Book Haul!

I have collected quite a few books recently and have been dying to share!    In The Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken - This book is the third and final book in the Darkest Minds trilogy. It follows Ruby and the friends she makes along her journey. The children in the world have been affected by a disease giving them one of the powers below, which are categorized by colors.       1. Greens- Intellengence       2. Blues- telekinesis       3. Yellows- electricity       4. Oranges- mind control       5. Reds- fire             The unaffected adults have put the kids in basically what are concentration camps. Ruby escapes with the help of a friendly adult and meets people along the way of trying to find the cure and free the camps. She faces plenty of difficulties along the way. It has one of the best romances I've ever read, and is full of action. This trilogy is definitely one of my favorites of all time.  Legend by Marie Lu - This is the firs

November Wrap-Up & December TBR!

Hello and welcome back to Mallory Books! Today I'll be sharing the books I managed to read in November, and the books I want to read in December. Although I was unable to finish a lot of books in November, I only need four more books to compete my Goodreads Challenge! November Wrap-up      November was a very hard month for me. I was unable to read as much as I usually do for certain reasons. I did complete two books I'm the hectic month.  Born at Midnight by C. C. Hunter - I REALLY enjoyed this book. It follows sixteen year old Kylie Galen who is sent to a camp for troubled teens after her parents divorce, or so she thought. When she arrives she notices the other teems aren't normal, in fact they are freaks! Then, she realizes maybe she is too. On her journey of finding out who- or rather what- she is, she makes friends and falls in love. 5/5 stars for me! I loved the mysterious/supernatural feel to this book!  Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher - This fo

Random Sunday!

Today, I decided to start a new thing here on my blog called Random Sunday! Basically, it is where I make a blog post about a random topic, bookish or unbookish, once a week. So this week, let's talk about contemporarys!        Contemporarys are one of my favorite young adult genres. But I hate most of their endings. The whole story leads up to the main characters falling in love, right? It's all sweet and romantic, and sometimes tear worthy. But when they FINALLY get together, the book ends. You shut the book and think, "Why did it have to end?!" All I want is for them to be longer! I want to see what happens while they are together. I want all cute couple spats. But no! It's over.      Now if your still reading this after my rant, let me name a few of my favorites. 1. My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick. I LOVE this book with all of my heart. 2. Anything Stephanie Perkins. No explanation needed. 3. John Green novels. I haven't read Paper

NaNoWriMo 2014!

It's that time of year again, it is time for NaNoWrimo! This is the first year I will be participating. For those of you who do not know what NaNoWriMo is, it stands for National Novel Writing Month. It takes place in November, in which you must write 50,000 words to win. A girl I know has actually won and became a published author. That is my goal. Today is day 3, and my word count is at 6,048 and I'm not finished yet.      This year, I'm combining a few topics into my novel including, love, family, murder, and suicide. As of now, this is all I'm sharing. If you want more information on what I'm writing about or daily updates comment down below. I am prepared for long nights of writing which means I'm going to need a lot of caffeine and candy! Let's not forget about the ice cream too. This also means, I'm not getting much reading done, therefore less blogging. I'm sorry for the inconvenience! Good luck to the other participants and may the

Lola and the Boy Next Door | Review (no spoilers)

Lola and the Boy Next Door (Anna and the French kiss #2) by Stephanie Perkins      This book follows Lola Nolan who is a designer. She does not believe in fashion, but she does believe in costumes. Even with her crazy costumes, everything in her life was perfect, including her hot rock star boyfriend. When the dreaded Bell twins return to her neighborhood in San Fransico everything comes tumbling down.      Cricket is the twin brother of Calliope. Calliope is a national ranking figure skater hoping to attend the Olympics. She keeps him in her shadow.       Tall, gorgeous Cricket steps out of her shadow along with his messy hair. They begin having late night chats at the widows of their neighboring houses. Lola feelings for Cricket begin to resurface.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas | Review

I recently participated in a read-a-long with Tika (fANGIRLavue.blogspot.com) and Jen (jennieelousisee.blogspot.co.uk). You can find their thoughts on their blogs! We read Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas because we all wanted to read it! The read-a-long followed a schedules which you can find on Tika's blog! (No spoilers) DAY 1: So far, the book started out a little slow. The world is very interesting and I really like the story. There has been a lot of world building and there are a lot of places. I think this book has the potential to live up to it's raving reviews! DAY 2: I really like Celaena. I think she has a awesome personality. She isn't one of those fake book characters who has the perfect everything. I think Chaol is great. He is caring and I think he is going to take very good care of Celaena. DAY 3: I don't think there is just one chapter I would rewrite, rather than a part of one or two. DAY 4: I really loved the chapter(s) that featur

Summertime Madness Tag.

Ever time I would try to type the title I kept entering sadness instead of madness. Summer is almost over and I want to take advantage of it before I miss my chance to do this awesome tag created by JackEatsBooks.  1.  Show a book with a summery cover.! i.e, sun, beach, ect.      I choose We were liars by E. Lockhart. This cover feature a group of teenagers playing in the water and the sun is shining.  It all looks very summery. 2.  Pick one fictional place that would be perfect for your summer vacation!      This was hard because I kept picking actual places instead of fictional ones. So I'm going to go with the planet L’eihr from Alienated by Melissa Landers. Who wouldn't want to travel to another planet for vacation? Not to mention all the hot aliens! 3.  You’re about to go on a flight to your Summer Vacation. But you want to read a book that lasts for the whole flight so what novella do you choose?       I choose The Darkest  Minds novella: In time, because

We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

First thought: This book was so beautiful and poetic. It really messed with my head until the end, and then it messed with my emotions. It is true that you should go into this book with no knowledge of the plot. Overview: I can't tell you the plot. Even the slightest thing could be a spoiler. This book has a mysterious/fairytale theme. The main protagonist Cadence retells the same story several times like a fairytale but she changes the setting and characters. All in all it is very hard to explain. Favorite character: Gat hands down. He is such an interesting character. I definitely recommend that you all read this book. It is probably one of my favorite summer books so far! I'm sorry this review was so short but I do not want to spoil anyone. Rating: 5/5

August TBR!

I cant believe August is here already! Back-to-school season is here and that means summer is coming to an end. The start of a new month also means a new pile of books that I want to read. August has some very worthy books, so lets get started! #1 Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins ( Anna and the French Kiss #3)      Let's face it! This is on everyone's TBR. This is the third book in the series. Stephanie Perkins novels are the perfect mourning period read. I recommend you start the series ASAP! This book will hit shelves August 14th. #2 Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout ( Lux series #5)       I am reading the fourth book in this series and boy am I loving it! This series is fast-paced and the characters are swoon worthy! Its never to late to begin especially with the new fancy covers! This book will be available August 5th. #3 Magnolia by Kristie Cook       In Magnolia Branch, Mississippi the Cafferty and Marsden families are the

July Wrap-up!

In the month of July I read 7 books! I am happy with the books I finished and I am ready to share them with you.       The first book I read was Reboot by Amy Tintera. This is a Dystopian novel told from Wren Connolly's perspective. When she was shot and killed five years ago she came back stronger, faster, and less human. She is now a Reboot. Reboots become less human the longer they stay dead. Wren 178 is the longest time ever recorded. She is now a soldier. When she starts training Callum 22, one of the shortest times, he is slower and always smiling. When he doesn't follow an order Wren is given one chance to get him in line or she will have to execute him herself. She has started to fall for him and she will do anything to keep him alive. She is done following orders.         The next book I read was a re-read for me and that was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling. If you haven't read this series I highly recommend you do!

Sick/Ill Book Tag

1. Diabetes: A book to sweet, like really sweet             I'm not sure if this question means a book I did not enjoy because it was too romantic, but I really enjoy those kinds of books, so instead I will list a book I really loved that was very romantic! For that I have to go with My life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick! This one of my all time favorite contemporary and book in general. The romance was perfectly sweet and I couldn't stop reading. I fell in love with the characters just as they fell in love with each other. 2. Chicken Pox: A book you've read once and will never pick up again.           After thinking long and hard about this I have decided to go with The Maze Runner by James Dashner. Now this book was good. That is all. The story had so much more potential. I found the main character boring as well as the story. Although things somewhat picked up at the end I didn't feel the need to pick up the sequel. 3. Influenza: the flu, a contagious book

Book of the Week

This weeks book is Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. I know it is an old series but I really want to start it, and the sooner the better. I honestly have not heard anything bad about the series. Comment below if you liked it or not!
