Westerly College’s campus is full of sororities and frats, but Kappa Rho Nu (The Raven’s) isn’t just the most selective sorority, it’s also a secret coven of real witches. Vivi Deveraux sees joining Kappa as her chance to finally be who she wants away from her hectic childhood. Scarlett Winters was raised to become a Raven leader and this is the year she has to prove herself, without the secrets of her past coming to light. Vivi and Scarlett are chosen to be each other’s Big and Little, forced to work together when dark magic threatens to destroy the coven, and it is connected to both of their pasts. 


The Raven’s was a refreshing modern day witch tale, full of magic, a college setting, girl power, and dark, morally grey characters. I loved the magic system used, it was unique to other stories I’ve personally encountered, while being easy to understand. However, a lot of the magical information was dumped into the plot at the start, and it seemed a little unrealistic how quickly the recruits went from not knowing magic existed to memorized virtually every spell. Scarlett was an amazing character, and definitely my favorite. I loved how her imperfections were handled in creating character growth and not just making her a classic mean girl. She felt authentic and driven. It was interesting to see the diverse characters being included, but I wish it was handled better than just serving as a description that fell into the background. That being said, I did really enjoy the story a lot. It was fast-paced and full of twists and empowering moments. I definitely plan to continue the series when it’s released! If you like witches and/or college settings, this one’s for you!

August TBR!

     I cant believe August is here already! Back-to-school season is here and that means summer is coming to an end. The start of a new month also means a new pile of books that I want to read.
