This Is her chance to define her own destiny and try to save thee world.

MY THOUGHTS: If I had to describe this book in one word it would be captivating. I have never read anything quite like it. The concept, the most unique twist on a zombie-like-apocalypse (emphasis on like) I’ve ever encountered, was amazing! Sea captains, curses, action, romance, morally grey characters, twists, and a not-so-chosen Chosen One; this book has everything. As a sister, I thought the portrayal of sisterhood, and its ups and downs felt very authentic. I find it rare when a book of this nature never seems to drag or be muddled with filler scenes, and Unchosen flawless flowed with great timing and exhilarating twists. My favorite part of the story was of course the relationship between Seth and Charlotte. It had the perfect foundation of enemies to lovers but didn’t seem forced. They really worked so well together. (Where can I find a Seth? Seriously? Or a Charlotte?) The dialogue is definitely a highlight in this story which I adored! All of the characters felt developed and had their own flaws and strengths, even the villains and heroes. No one was totally perfect in this world of survival. The feminism aspect was handled well in my opinion, and I loved the concept of feminine rage combined with choice. I really wasn’t expecting to be so impressed with this book but I am soooo glad I was! If you are looking for a feminist/pirate/zombie/sci-fi/romance/family/destiny standalone story, you really HAVE to give this one a chance.

Rating: ★★★★★

*I received an arc from edelweiss+ in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

  2. Yes, that does have an interesting twist on an end of the world-disaster- zombie story. Glad the characters felt so authentic and well-developed including the villains.
