Two teens who have nothing in common work together at a record store in All Our Worst Ideas, a powerful and voice-driven YA novel from Vicky Skinner.

When Amy, on her way to becoming valedictorian of her graduating class and getting accepted to her dream school, gets dumped by her long-term boyfriend, she takes a job at a record store to ease the pain. She needs a distraction, badly.

Oliver, Amy’s record store co-worker, isn’t so sure about Amy—his complete opposite—but what he is sure of is his decision not to go to college. He just can’t figure out how to tell his mother.

As they work late-night shifts at the record store, Amy and Oliver become friends and then confidantes and then something more, but when Amy has a hard time letting go of what she thought was her perfect future with her ex, she risks losing the future she didn’t even know she wanted with Oliver.

MY REVIEW

Amy is a senior in high school who has had her heart set on Stanford for years. She is determined to become valedictorian and win the scholarship she needs to secure her future. But it’s never that easy and the road is bumpy.

Oliver has decided to take a gap year. Maybe college just isn’t for him? And his relationship with his father is far from good.

When they meet at the music store they have different ideas for their futures, but maybe they are the perfect match. There’s just the small problem that Amy is still in love with her ex.

This novel is a realistic coming of age journey of two different life’s that overlap in all the best ways. This is more than a crush, it’s about finding the person who supports you unconditionally. It was heartwarming and relatable. I really love the themes of following your own heart and doing what’s right for yourself. It’s inspiring to read about putting yourself first. It shows that even though two people seem very different on a surface level, often times they actually have a lot in common. That was the case with Amy and Oliver.

This story had little but of everything from music, to friendship, to love with an ending that wrapped it up perfectly.

This Is her chance to define her own destiny and try to save thee world.   MY THOUGHTS: If I had to describe this book in one word it would be captivating. I have never read anything quite like it. The concept, the most unique twist on a zombie-like-apocalypse (emphasis on like) I’ve ever encountered, was amazing! Sea captains, curses, action, romance, morally

I have collected quite a few books recently and have been dying to share!    In The Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken - This book is the third and final book in the Darkest Minds trilogy. It follows Ruby and the friends she makes along her journey. The children in the world have been affected by a disease giving them one of the powers below, which are categorized by colors.       1. Greens- Intellengence       2. Blues- telekinesis       3. Yellows- electricity       4. Oranges- mind control       5. Reds- fire             The unaffected adults have put the kids in basically what are concentration camps. Ruby escapes with the help of a friendly adult and meets people along the way of trying to find the cure and free the camps. She faces plenty of difficulties along the way. It has one of the best romances I've ever read, and is full of action. This trilogy is definitely one of my favorites of all time.  Legend by Marie Lu - This is the firs
