Book Haul!

I have collected quite a few books recently and have been dying to share!

In The Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken- This book is the third and final book in the Darkest Minds trilogy. It follows Ruby and the friends she makes along her journey. The children in the world have been affected by a disease giving them one of the powers below, which are categorized by colors.

     1. Greens- Intellengence
     2. Blues- telekinesis
     3. Yellows- electricity
     4. Oranges- mind control
     5. Reds- fire
The unaffected adults have put the kids in basically what are concentration camps. Ruby escapes with the help of a friendly adult and meets people along the way of trying to find the cure and free the camps. She faces plenty of difficulties along the way. It has one of the best romances I've ever read, and is full of action. This trilogy is definitely one of my favorites of all time.

Legend by Marie Lu- This is the first book in the Legend trilogy. I basically know nothing about this book other than it has dual perspective and it is dystopian. I've heard that it is action packed and has some romance. Sounds like a new favorite too me! I can't wait to read it.

Magisterium: The Iron Trials by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare- this was a must-have for me considering Cassandra Clare had something to do with it! I love everything she has every written. I know Holly Black is an Incredible writer as well. I also know very little about this book other than it follows a boy named Callum and MAGIC.  I know, I know, it sounds like Harry Potter. Yet, I feel that it is insane to comparethe two series just because they have magic in them. I'm am SUPER. Excited to read this.

Cinder & Scarlet by Marissa Meyer- These are the first two books in the Lunar Chrinicles Series. They are fairy tale retellings (which I love!) I know that the first one is a retellings of Cinderella and that the main character, Cinder, is a cyborg. That was enough to draw me in.

Marched trilogy by Ally Condie- I have heard very mixed reviews on these books. My teacher read the trilogy and loved them. I'm dying to find out what these books are even about. (Hey Mallory, did you ever think about reading a synopsis?) I hate reading to much about the books before I read them for two reasons, 1. I want to be surprised and have a honest opinion on the book. 2. SPOILERS!

The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks- I received this book as a gift from my friend. I refused to see the movie without reading the book, so she got it for me. Though I've yet to read it, it sounds good. Yes I did read the synopsis. A young couple falls in love and then something forces them apart. Then, they run into each other and fall back in love. I think. Okay, so it's been a while since I've read the back cover, but hey I tried!

Sylo by D. J. MacHale- I bought this book because of the cover. I know it has something to do with the army taking over an island (off of New York, maybe?) because of a serious disease outbreak. The back cover says "They came from the sky." All I know, is that it sounds freaking awesome.

So these are all the books I've collected lately, I think. I hope you enjoyed this haul! Don't forget to follow me here, and on bloglovin'. Feel free to comment your thoughts on my terrible ability to describe a book or even know what it's about for that matter!

November Wrap-Up & December TBR!

Hello and welcome back to Mallory Books! Today I'll be sharing the books I managed to read in November, and the books I want to read in December. Although I was unable to finish a lot of books in November, I only need four more books to compete my Goodreads Challenge!

November Wrap-up

November was a very hard month for me. I was unable to read as much as I usually do for certain reasons. I did complete two books I'm the hectic month.

  1. Born at Midnight by C. C. Hunter - I REALLY enjoyed this book. It follows sixteen year old Kylie Galen who is sent to a camp for troubled teens after her parents divorce, or so she thought. When she arrives she notices the other teems aren't normal, in fact they are freaks! Then, she realizes maybe she is too. On her journey of finding out who- or rather what- she is, she makes friends and falls in love. 5/5 stars for me! I loved the mysterious/supernatural feel to this book!
  2. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher - This follows a teen boy named Clay. He receives a mysterious package addressed to him. He opens the box only to find that it contains thirteen cassette tapes with numbers painted on them. As he listens to the first one he immediately recognizes the voice to be Hannah Baker, but that can't be right because she is dead. She committed suicide not to long ago. The tapes were sent to thirteen people who were the reason why she did it. Clay wonders what he could have done to end up on the list, the only thing he knew about Hannah was that she was in love with her. We ride an emotional roller coaster with Clay as he listens to all the tapes, and realizes everything Hannah went through. He began hating people for the things they did. When he got to the tape that Hannah started with his name he finds out the truth. This emotional story was definitely a 5/5 star story.

December TBR

I plan on doing a lot of reading in December! I can't believe it is already here! It feels funny looks out to see the snow on the ground and the Christmas tree in my living room! Here are the books I want to read in this wintery month!

  1. Awake at Dawn by C. C. Hunter- this is the sequel to Born at Midnight so I won't be sharing the synopsis. I'm really exited to plunge back into this world!
  2. The Harry Potter Series by J. K. Rowling- All seven books, yes, all seven!! Who knows if I can complete this crazy goal, but I'm up for the challenge. I will be participating in the #harryxmastoyou readawatchalongathon that Youtuber Maureen Keavy is hosting with some other youtubers. We will be tackling the task of watching all seven books and eight movies!
  3. Legend by Marie Lu - I recently got a whole lot of new books (haul soon!) and legend was one of them. I know very little about the story other than it is dystopian and in dual-perspective. I've heard nothing but good things from my friends who have read it! Possibly a new favorite?
That is all I have today for you guys! Please comment what you read in November and your December TBR. If you enjoyed this post don't forget to follow my blog and on bloglovin' ( link on the side) I hope you enjoyed this!
