The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon ~ Review

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon Pages: 452 Publisher: Bloomsbury Synopsis via Goodreads:  It is the year 2059. Several major world cities are under the control of a security force called Scion. Paige Mahoney works in the criminal underworld of Scion London, part of a secret cell known as the Seven Seals. The work she does is unusual: scouting for information by breaking into others’ minds. Paige is a dreamwalker, a rare kind of clairvoyant, and in this world, the voyants commit treason simply by breathing. But when Paige is captured and arrested, she encounters a power more sinister even than Scion. The voyant prison is a separate city—Oxford, erased from the map two centuries ago and now controlled by a powerful, otherworldly race. These creatures, the Rephaim, value the voyants highly—as soldiers in their army. Paige is assigned to a Rephaite keeper, Warden, who will be in charge of her care and training. He is her master. Her natural enemy. But if she wants to regain her

Leaving the boundaries of their land for the very first time, she learns something horrifying: There never was a war. Cities were never destroyed. The world is intact. Everything was a lie. Someone who knows the extraordinary truth about the s

Stacking The Shelves (#1)

Stacking The Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga Reviews . It's all about sharing the books you've recently added to your shelves.       Recently, I ventured to the book store and Bought two glorious books.      Rebel Belle by Rachel Hawkings- I've had my eyes on this book for a while, so I picked it up. All I know is it is about a badass southern belle. Sounds interesting enough to me!    The Darkest Part of the Forsest by Holly Black- As I was browsing my bookstore I see this! A whole two days before its release date! You can bet I bought it. Holly Black's writing is fantastic so I am really excited for this!          What books did you add to your collection recently?

The Distance Between Us by Kasie West | Review

The Distance Between Us by Kasie West Publisher: Harper Collins Genre: YA Contemporary Pages: 320 Synopsis via Goodreads:   Seventeen-year-old Caymen Meyers studies the rich like her own personal science experiment, and after years of observation she’s pretty sure they’re only good for one thing—spending money on useless stuff, like the porcelain dolls in her mother’s shop. So when Xander Spence walks into the store to pick up a doll for his grandmother, it only takes one glance for Caymen to figure out he’s oozing rich. Despite his charming ways and that he’s one of the first people who actually gets her, she’s smart enough to know his interest won’t last. Because if there’s one thing she’s learned from her mother’s warnings, it’s that the rich have a short attention span. But Xander keeps coming around, despite her best efforts to scare him off. And much to her dismay, she's beginning to enjoy his company. She knows her mom can’t find out—she wouldn’t approve. She’d much

Reader Problems Tag!

Thank you Jennie for tagging me! All you have to do is answer the following questions. Let's do this! You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next? Let's see, it would really depend on the mood I'm in. I would probably use my handy dandy TBR Jar for this though!    You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed? Again, it really depends. I usually try to push through but if worst comes to worst I would have to DNF it.      The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge.  Do you try to catch up and how? I would definitely try to catch up! I would try to read shorter books such as novellas or graphic novels.  The covers of a series you love do. not. match.  How do you cope? I hate when covers do not match. I would probably revert to buying the ebooks, so I wouldn't have to look at them on my shel

The Bookish Groupies | Co-review | The Raven Boys By Maggie Stiefvater

Along with a couple of book blogger friends ( Tika of  Fangirl Confessions , Blessie at MIschievous Reads , and Jennie of  A Bookworm Called Jennie ), we've created a small group called The Bookish Groupies where in we'd host fun themed monthly read alongs, co-reviews, interviews, discussion posts and the like, and  ANYONE  is welcome to join! Previously, we've done a couple of read alongs as a group but we haven't made it official, and as an official group with an awesome name this will be our first p roject.       Earlier this week I sat down with a few new bloggers! The four girls are from The Bookish Groupies. We shared a few laughs and discussed a book by Maggie Stiefvater called The Raven Boys. I interviewed them on a few points and you can see what they thought below!          What were your Initial thoughts? Jennie :  When I first started reading this book I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it or not. I like

Friday 56

Hosted by Freda's Voice  Grab a book, any book. Turn to page 56, or 56% in your e-reader. (If you have to improvise, that's okay.) Find any sentence, (or few, just don't spoil it) that grab you. Post it. Add your URL (post) below in the Linky (on her blog). Add the post URL, not your blog's.                              The Distance Between Us by Kasie West  “The next morning Xander’s waiting outside the shop again, casually leaning against a light post, like we’ve been walking to school together our whole lives. He takes a sip of my hot chocolate then hands it to me as we start walking.” I was happy to see that this was a quote from page 56 because I love this. Every morning Xander brings Caymen a hot chocolate, and before giving it to her he always takes the first sip. It becomes a morning ritual of sorts. I love this book!

Waiting on Wednesday

When I woke up this Wednesday and looked at my phone I saw that it was 9:34! I instantly panicked since I usually get up for school no later than 6:30. I looked out my window and everything was white! School had been canceled. So what better to do on a snow day than ponder about anticipated books. Thanks to Breaking the Spine I can do just that!  1. The Darkest Part of the Forest by Holly Black- There is just something about this cover that  intrigued me, plus it's Holly black. This book comes out January 13, 2015. 2. Until the Beginning by Amy Plum- After the first book ended with a cliffhanger I really need this  in my hands! Releases May 5, 2015. 3. The Heir by Kiera Cass- I know a lot of people hate this series but I love it! They all have gorgeous  covers! I'm so excited to read this. It also releases on May 5, 2015.
